Interior Design Show (IDS) 2012 Gala

Every year there is a Gala on the Thursday night before the opening of IDS on Friday. It is so much fun and all the designers, decorators and everybody else is there checking out the booths and enjoying great food and beverages. It is a great way to mingle, meet friends and really see the different booths and get some great shots. This year I stayed in the city which made it nice and simple for attending the show the next morning.

Exotic Wood

A great deal of knowledge was gained by our group of Interior Decorators recently when we visited the showroom of Exotic Woods, Burlington,  www.exotic-woods.com .  This company brings in wood from all over the world.  A wonderful place to select your wood for any project, be it a tabletop, flooring or whatever.  We were also introduced to a new finishing product - Rubio which is a 0A% VOC natural product.  It is an Oil base which bonds to the fibres in wood and will protect and add colour to  your wood in one single layer.  No topcoat necessary thus time saving.  It is a wonderful product which can be used in bathrooms as well as many other applications.

Niagara on the Lake Ice Wine Festival

Niagara Ice Wine Festival 2012



Well it's that time of year again, horray!!  Love to participate in something fun and tasty during the cold winter.  We have not had much of a winter this year and that is just fine with me.  Hubby and I along with some friends popped down to the festival and enjoyed some very nice ice wine along with visits to wineries where we tasted some great wines.  Something to look forward to for next year if you haven't had a chance to go.  Of course there are many fabulous eateries in the area to enjoy a find dinner with of course, more vino.....

We did book rooms and stay overnight as well.

We were in for a nice surprise when a light snow fell that day.  Really gave the event some of that winter wonderland mood without being too cold or too windy.

 and again in one of the wineries where we participated in a special tasting of how to make drinks with ice wine and other types of the fun stuff

 Very serious about what we were learning about ice wine and how to mix it with other liquids to make great drinks!

Oh what a wonderful idea - have a festival to sample wine.  I'll use any excuse to have a little of the grape...
