More White on White...

If you follow this blog or know me, you will be aware of my allegiance to white.  Love it. There are so many different tones of white that  I do not think it can ever be boring as long as you have a mix of texture  and coordinating 'white' tones.  I love to find photos of rooms done in white and done with style & creativity.  Recently I was viewing some of the work from Interior Designer, Benjamin Noriega Ortiz , www.bnodesign.com who is recognized as one of the most stylish and influential of today's interior designers.  There are many books and articles on White Decorating, and of course I have some of them.  The newly published book by designer, Linda O'Keefe, Brilliant: White in Designshowcases beautiful white rooms by many known designers from all over the world.

As an Interior Decorator, I love colour but can appreciate the value of white.  It is less demanding on the eye and the conscious mind.  White is very versatile.  Decorating in a white on white scheme, does not mean the there is no other colour in the space; rather that it is of a secondary value, more in the background.
I have shared white space design previously in this blog but couldn't help myself and decided to add some more....

And now some photos of white spaces from various other sources....

I could go on and on but I think I will look for some great black and white spaces.

The Big Apple At Christmas Time.....

I am a child at heart.  I have always wanted to be in New York City for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, ice skate in the park and be among the shoppers just for the experience.  I got that chance and would you believe they were having a heat wave.  No kidding, we were just wearing light weight jackets and sweaters.  It was downright balmy.  It didn't take away from the spirit though, only the ice was a little watery.  Can you imagine sipping a coffee, sitting outside in Bryant Park with all the Christmas Decorations up and just wearing a sweater.
I got to visit all the wonderful places and of course the big toy store that every kid wants to see.

Spring is in the air....and so is Colour

Hooray for spring!  Love it!!  It gets us all in the mood for some home improvements and brightening up our spaces.  I feel energized to move forward with some great decorating projects and purchases to welcome spring and summer. In checking out the latest magazines there is a plethora of great ideas to get anyone in the mood. One thing there is plenty of is COLOUR....  I found most of these great samples at West Elm, Pottery Barn, Home Outfitters, Wicker Emporium and many more places.

Spring and Home Shows....

It's that time of year when we all break out of our winter hibernation and start to enjoy warmer weather and of course the variety of local home shows.  Last weekend Oakville had it's annual home show and it was full of great and wonderful products and information on everything you need to upgrade your home.  This booth which was put together with some creative thought,  including some decor items showed how on trend they are. Below is a photo of Karl French from Speers Road Broadloom, www.speersroadbroadloom.com and Joe Isabella the Territory Manager from Shaw Industries, www.shawfloors.com posing with a very unique piece.

A student from Fanshawe College in London created the dress and jacket out of carpets that Karl supplied.  She got a very good grade for this project and won an award.  For an close up look of this fabulous project, drop into Speers Road Broadloom, Oakville.
